“Education is the help we must give to life so that it may develop in the greatness of its powers. To help those great forces which bring the child…to the greatness of the adult being, this should be the plan of education-to see what help we can give.” Maria Montessori - The 1946 London Lectures, P.28

Learning Environment

The Prepared Environment helps enhance and focus on specific areas of development including Practical Life Skills, Sensory Education, Language, Mathematics and Culture. I am convinced that play activity is a very important part of a child’s well-being and development so clothing should be practical, comfortable and weather appropriate for outdoor gross motor activities. At the same time, to maintain a happy, healthy, disciplined environment, the children are taught the importance of safety, and kindness. Areas of such policies include care of property, good manners and habits, rules of conduct and consideration and respect for others.

Discipline

Discipline, used as a learning tool by nature, is aimed to cultivate self discipline in your child. There is freedom within the limits and boundaries as the rules we follow keep us safe.  Discipline will consist of distraction and diversion techniques, time-outs and loss of privileges. If necessary, a child will be given a safe place to play away from the other children.  Physical punishment will not be used.  Aggressive behaviour  such as biting, hitting, and deliberate destruction of property will be followed by an immediate time-out.  Any time-outs will be recorded on your child’s Communication Log.

All efforts must be made by the Parents or Guardians and the Childcare Provider to identify ongoing aggressive behaviour. Any ongoing aggression is a qualification for contract termination.

Curriculum

Joyful Noise Montessori House delivers a well-rounded education providing an enriching environment making the most out of these important first six years of their life.

I base my program on Dr. Maria Montessori’s methods of early childhood learning. Dr. Montessori, who’s heart for the underprivileged children of Italy has spirited a passion in discovering the inner workings of young children in order to bring out their true potential- to empower them to thrive. Through hands-on, multi-sensory materials, I aim to nurture each child's innate curiosity and guide them on a path towards a lifelong love of learning.

Meals and Snacks

Meals and snacks will be offered as per our daily schedule.  A menu will be posted. Food will be offered to children, but they will not be forced to eat.  I will notify the Parents or Guardians if a child is not eating.

I promote well-balanced snacks that include items from the four basic food groups with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables. Milk or water can be provided with every snack or meal. I strongly encourage parents to provide food items at home for the child that includes suggested intakes of nutritional servings outlined in the Canada Food Guide, or allergy or food sensitive derivatives, as a healthy and well-balanced diet is an essential contributor to your child’s learning and disposition.

Supplies

Self-Help Skill Development is a key characteristic in the Montessori Philosophy. Therefore, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush and a facecloth, shoes that are easy to put on and extra sets of clothing must be provided for each child. Diapers, wipes, quiet time blankets must be provided when needed.

Joyful Noise Montessori House will provide snacks and meals, milk, and a playpen or rest mat with sheets.

About Me

I have extensive experience in working with children and I consider myself gifted in the area of childcare. I have a passion in using this gift to help parents take time to refresh and rejuvenate themselves apart from their children.

I take pride in the experiences I have had with children and other parents and have learned much from them. As the human condition holds its joys and complications, I find happiness in sharing it all and learning from children who see life as it is with freedom and trust.
